China's first open road smart bus line has started normal trial operation in Changsha and buses from the CRRC Times Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd are the only permitted vehicles on this line. Currently, passengers can ride the line for free.
The line is 7.8 km long and includes 11 stations each way. In the more than two months of trial operation, the autopilot has been operated more than 300 times, according to local newspaper reports.
The vehicle in trial operation is said to be supported by artificial intelligence, automatic control, and perception fusion technology.
Its vehicle-road coordination system can capture traffic light changes and optimize the perception fusion algorithm. The vehicle can get ahead of the next intersection perception information to speed up the passage.
When the vehicle is climbing up a hill, it can automatically control the acceleration of the vehicle and keep the speed constant on long uphill and downhill slopes.
